I am so very FRUSTRATED. I am still struggling to find a way to provide and its dead ends at every turn. Its not going to be a great Christmas for the kids this year at all.
I need work on my car done and cant afford it, no money for christmas gifts, and charities say I applied too late. I need real, tangible, practical help from someone who cares, not well wishers who dont put their sentiments into action.

I am a mother of 3 , only 1 is still at home. he is 15 yo. I have been struggling with bi polar 2 and major anxiety for 11 years. i have been a compliant outpatient on multiple meds for the whole time. i worked steadily til 9/11 and then severely injured ny knee (full acl tear) in a slip. since then I have had 2 major knee surgery’s and two hospitalizations for depression. i was denied SSD in 2004 because my work history was so solid and relied on welfare which was terrible. i was ready to work again when due to a buildings negligence the steel cover for oil was not locked but not visible and when i stepped on it it opened and i fell again. i know require spine treatments and double knee surgery. i am very depressed. i have very little family, i have spent all my savings on rent -a 10×12 studio and am about to apply again for SSD and public assistance. i just got Medicaid. I am looking at eviction, surgery, and my son knows how sad I am . the one thing i wanted to do was have a few gifts for him. i am ready to drop any pride i had. I dont know where to turn and am alone on this. any help would be a gift.
Hello, I am Mandy, I am 23 years old and a mommy of 2 angels who I am desperate to make sure they have a CHRISTMAS like most other kids do! I can not imagine not being able to play Santa Clause the night of Christmas when they fall to sleep! I remember as child the joy and excitment i felt when i was waiting to fall asleep for santa to come and I want my babies to be able to feel the same way! Christmas Last year was so emmotional and I literally felt like I had failed as a parent. I did everything I could to make there christmas exciting to them since it was my daughters 1sr christmas I really felt like a failure when they woke up on christmas morning they had some things, the things was items that I had put up a few months before that they didnt play with and a few things I was able to get at the dollar store and they actually didnt even no what to do with the toys because they wasnt really for there age bc baby items are expensive alot of times. That afternoon we went to my moms in Minor Hill which is 2 hours away and the kids did get some things from them that they could enjoy,that did help alot but I still felt like they deserved a Christmas Morning w/Santa and then go to grandma's house w/there santa toys to show the family there!! I also no that Chistmas isnt all about toys and gifts,but the main reason is to celebrate Jesus's Birth and my kids will be taught that as they will also see the programs and plays at churches around christmas time.I believe that making sure our kids understand the true meaning of christmas is a GREAT THING TO DO! So that they will be able to celebrate what the gifts are for and why they get the gifts they get for christmas! I no my babies are only 3 and 2 but I am starting to teach them early in life the meaning of alot of things in life that they can understand
But if there is anyone who can help me out with this or if you can give any advice on giving my babies a christmas morning PLEASE DO SO! ANY INFO IS BETTER THAN NOTHING! I also want to say my prayers are with all the other families going through this situation BCI no how much it hurts not being able to do for your babies what they deserve! I said last year that I would not stop looking for work until I found a job or literally gave out and Im still looking but there arent any jobs anywhere for anything if you dont have a college degree or if you have babies they are like sorry...but hopefully year 2010 will bring us all GREAT Times to come and our Economy will improve for the better for everyone the homeless,poor,average,and the wealthy! Im also hoping to see the ones who are wealthy and who can afford to help families as mine and many other families at this Special Time of the year actually helping as much as possible to make our world a better,loving,caring,joyful,place to live in!!

Hello everyone, I do have to say that anyone still in need for Christmas, its pretty late in the day to ask and most charities already have their list together and are not accepting names. I will give you suggestions that may still be able to help you. I wish everyone luck and God bless.
Anyone with a legitimate need for themselves, children, or the elderly should contact the Marine Corps Toys for Tots (items for kids 0-16 yrs); the Salvation Army; local Lions Clubs often adopt a needy family for the season; the Red Cross will offer help; many police departments adopt a family for the holidays; Social Service agencies, VFW's, and churches offer help. Use the phone book and your computer to look. You can also check Human Services, they may have ideas on where to look in your community.Contact a church, any church, even if you are not a member they will help you or find someone who will help you. If you have a St. Vinnie's many of them have food pantries. If you have children in school contact the school principal and ask for any help they can give; Many of the Lions Clubs have mitten trees, even local libraries sometimes have mitten trees. You will have to do some calling, but once the word gets out about your need you will be surprised at the help you will get from your own community.
Also for free gifts for kids that have parents in jail. Contact "Project Angel Tree" on the web for a local chapter, (a Christian organization started by Chuck Colson of Watergate fame)
Check local goodwills etc... For new and gently used items. Sometimes you even come upon brand new items there. Make homemade soaps, as well as homemade bath salts, etc. Become a member of the local freecycle.com,, you will be surprised what you will find. I resently received from my freecycle a Xbox with 5 games for my two boys, they loved it works great and to them its new. I suggest that you start now doing all this as time is flying by and there are lots of people in need these days. Good luck and may God bless all of you.
